Finding an accurate account on cannibalism is hard to find, as it is very taboo. However research on the Fore tribe in Papua New Guinea suggests we too may have been cannibals at one time or another. Many of the cannibals fell sick to a disease called Kuru, but some did not. Why? It was discovered that some had genes that protected them from Kuru, Mad Cow Disease, and CJD. Scientists then studied the rest of the world finding out that over half of the world's population is immune to prion-caused diseases. This leds some researches to believe that these genes developed out of our cannibalistic past. Perhaps there is more to humanity than we know.
